Mission Statement:

The mission of the Sand & Sage Round-Up Royalty program is to enrich the lives of young horsewomen in Prowers County by providing positive leadership experiences, enhancing decision making skills and encouraging additional horsemanship training, while promoting Prowers County, the Sand & Sage Round-Up, and P.R.C.A. Rodeo.  The Sand & Sage Round-Up Royalty’s purpose is to be involved within their community by volunteering their time to participate in and promote the Sand & Sage Round-Up fair and rodeo, as well as participating in other parades, fairs, and rodeos across the state and helping with other community events, such as Lamar Days, Wiley Hay Days, Holly Gateway Fair, etc. They also have the opportunity to participate in events such as the Colorado State Fair, Greeley Stampede, Cheyanne Frontier Days, Miss Rodeo Colorado Clinics, CAFS convention, etc.

Our Royalty competition takes place in August during the Sand & Sage Round-Up Fair week. The pageant portion of the contest, which includes a speech, modeling, personal interviews, and a written test, takes place on Tuesday evening. The horsemanship portion, which includes a horsemanship pattern, a Queen’s run, a Flag Run (for Queen/Lady-In-Waiting division), and another interview, takes place on Wednesday afternoon.
